a friend of mine sent me a link to a blog about the summer program at yonsei a few months ago, and i finally got around to putting pictures of them on my flickr. i suppose i've been thinking about that summer more often now that i've started the application for grad school there.

it was eight (8!!) years ago this summer that i graduated from high school and had my first real taste of freedom. needless to say, i drank, ate, and generally had a good time. like the rest of the world, drinking is allowed at age 18. the neighborhood the school was packed with restaraunts, bars, cafe's, karaoke bars, etc... and like most of asia, they were built up, not like how retail and commercial spaces is built horizontally accross streets here. i mostly remember the people i was in the program with there and the diverse geographical locals they came from: germany, the canary islands, hong kong, japan, boston, new york, florida, england, etc...

now that i'm serious about going, i'm excited about the possibilities and things that i could do there. being a stupid kid out of high school, i really didnt take in as much as i should have about the culture and other things of korea. i def. intend to make up for it if i do this program. it would be a huge move, spending my mid (yes, and late 20's) in grad school in another country. i guess this is the only time in my life when i can do this kind of thing.
